What do I need to do in order to donate?

Giving a donation to one of the projects is simple. If you have a Springboard account, you should login first.

Click the ‘Donate’ button in the menu at the top, and choose the project you want to donate to. Enter the information on the screens and you’re done!

You will receive an email with your donation details.

How much does it cost?

We use two different providers to process a payment. They charge us for processing your donation, and we make it clear in the information that you get after you have donated exactly how much the fee was.

All of the money after the fee has been taken out goes to the project you donate to.

So, for example, if you donate £20 and there is a fee of 20p, then your donation costs you £20 and £19.80 of that goes direct to the project you have donated to. Springboard charges nothing for processing your donation.

Can I donate just the once?

Yes – simply select the ‘one-off’ donation when you donate.

You can donate just the once with or without a Springboard account.

In what ways can I donate?

You can use your credit or debit card (processed with Paypal), or you can pay with your Paypal account if you have one, or you can set up a Direct Debit (processed with GoCardless).

If you set up a Direct Debit, you can also set up a monthly donation to automatically an amount you choose on the same date each month.

Do I need an account?

No – you can donate using your email address.

We do recommend that you create an account, but this is just so that you have easy access to all your information.

If you do donate without an account, it is important that you retain the email sent after the donation in case you need to get in touch with us. Also, if you donate without an account you will be asked to set up some extra security to ensure that your information is not used again by someone else.

Is it safe?

We do everything we can to make donating as safe as possible (for example, we use security certificates to encrypt all your data sent to our website, we store passwords encrypted on our database). Note also that we do not store bank account details or credit card details – these are stored by Paypal or GoCardless.

We recommend using GoCardless as the safest method, because you are covered by the Direct Debit guarantee for your donations. If you use this, you will receive an email when you donate.

If you donate without an account (i.e. you do not login) then you must set up extra security where you are sent codes. These codes must be entered for the donation to be processed. These codes can be sent by email or by text.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

If the project you are donating to is a charity and has registered for Gift Aid, then yes.

If you have an account, you can login and update all of your Gift Aid information.

Can I cancel my monthly donation?

Yes – at any time you choose. Monthly donations are processed using GoCardless under the Direct Debit Scheme.

If you have a Springboard account, you can cancel any active monthly donation in the ‘Your Account’ section. If not, you can cancel your Direct Debit with your bank and no more payments will be taken.

What happens to my information?

We believe in the principle that what happens to your information is yours to decide. Any information we store about your donation is never used for any other purposes. We never sell or pass on any information (unless in a very rare case we are legally obliged to do so).

Because we have to use companies to process the payment of your donation (Paypal and GoCardless), then they hold your information according to their policies. We do not store your credit / debit card information or any of your bank account details.
